Start with the concentration, not the bottle.

Eau de toilette sits around 5–15% fragrance oil; eau de parfum sits around 15–20%. That single number decides more than any note list. An EDT reads brighter for the first hour and then thins out by lunch. An EDP holds its shape for eight to ten hours, which is why every AarFirsh scent is bottled at eau de parfum strength. If a fragrance seems cheap for its size, check the concentration before you check the notes.

Match the note family to your climate.

Heat amplifies. In Chennai in May a heavy oud reads twice as loud as it did in the shop; in a Delhi winter the same bottle finally makes sense. As a rule, citrus and aquatic notes carry humidity well, woods and musks suit dry cold, and spiced ambers belong to evenings rather than office hours. Buy two rather than five — one bright, one warm — and you have covered most of the year.

Test on skin, not on paper.

Paper strips only show the opening. Your skin changes the dry-down, and the dry-down is the part you actually wear. Spray one wrist, leave it alone for thirty minutes, then smell it again before you decide. Never rub the wrists together — it crushes the top notes and speeds up evaporation. A discovery set is the cheapest way to do this properly, at home, over a few days.

Make it last longer than the commute.

Apply to moisturised skin, because dry skin sheds fragrance fast. Aim for pulse points that stay warm: the base of the throat, behind the ears, the inner elbow. Two sprays of an eau de parfum is plenty. Store the bottle away from the bathroom window — sunlight and heat degrade the oils far faster than time alone does.
